Contessa Marina della Gherardesca Ferrer[1] is a main character in season one of The L Word, before returning as a guest character in seasons four and six. She is portrayed by Karina Lombard and debuts in the series premiere.

Marina was born to the Della Gherardesca Italian noble family[1] and holds the title of "countess".[2] Her mother lives in a villa in Umbria, Italy,[2] and Marina is fluent in Italian.[3] Nearly 12 years before The L Word, she married the much older Count Manfredi della Francesco Ferrer, though they do not have a conventional marriage and appear to be married in name only.[4]
