I've never flown to the Pacific Northwest to chase a girl I barely know. And I'm here and I'm really crazy about you. And I need you to give me another chance even if I'm awful in bed. I know I'm still Gay 101, but I'm a really fast learner and before you know it, I'm gonna be Advanced Placement Gay, and then Graduate Level Gay, and fuck law school, I'll get my Doctorate in fucking Gay!

The L Word[]

Molly is the daughter of Phyllis Kroll, who is the Dean of the school where Bette works for the second half of the season. Phyllis, upon meeting Bette and all her lesbian friends, realizes that she is also a lesbian and divorces her husband. This upsets Molly, her daughter, who is a college student and basically blames her mom for ruining their family. She meets Shane and Shane tries to get Molly to have compassion for her mom. Molly falls for Shane and they end up together at the end of season 5.

Molly and Shane's relationship was going well, but Phyllis intervened and told Shane that she wasn't good enough for her daughter. Shane panicked and broke up with Molly. After finding out about the conversation, Molly writes a letter to Shane and gives it to Jenny to pass along. Jenny never delivers the letter, and Shane finds out that she hid it hours before Jenny's death.

Molly (to Shane): "I've never flown to the Pacific Northwest to chase a girl I barely know. And I'm here and I'm really crazy about you. And I need you to give me another chance even if I'm awful in bed. I know I'm still Gay 101, but I'm a really fast learner and before you know it, I'm gonna be Advanced Placement Gay, and then Graduate Level Gay, and fuck law school, I'll get my Doctorate in fucking Gay!"

Phyllis: "Molly's exceptional. And I'm saying this not as her mother, but as the chancellor of a major university. Molly is one of the most brilliant students I have ever encountered."
Shane: "I'm not surprised to hear it."
Phyllis: "And you're not worthy of her."
Shane: "Excuse me?"
Phyllis: "In the first place, the summer internship is a once in a lifetime opportunity."
Shane: "First of all, Molly is a grown-up. And I'm not telling her what to do."
Phyllis: "This is not just about the damn internship. I know you know what I'm talking about."
Shane: "Yeah, Phyllis, and what I know is that I'm crazy about her."
Phyllis: "Bette says you're not the kind of person any caring mother would want her daughter to have a relationship with."
Shane: "I don't buy it. Bette would never say it."
Phyllis: "She says you'd be up and after the first little hottie who shakes her booty at you. And you know your friend Alice? She told me that the longest relationship you ever had is six months. You proposed to some poor girl, left her at the altar. Even your friends think you're bad news, Shane. You know what would really suck though? Is if you did the same thing to my daughter. Are you going to throw Molly away like a piece of garbage?"
Shane: "No."
Phyllis: "How do you know? How can you be sure you're not going to find someone else you can't keep it in your pants around?"
Shane: "Phyllis, you know that is not fair to say, because no one knows that until it happens."
Phyllis: "Most of us possess a certain amount of self-knowledge, Shane. Have you ever heard the expression 'past is prelude'? No, of course you haven't. This is not just about Molly's summer plans. Don't fuck my daughter over. If you even think you love her, spare her. Don't turn her into another one of your heartbroken victims."

Bette: "God! Phyllis can be such an asshole. No, she had no right. Really."
Shane: "She had every right. Come on, it's her daughter, she loves her. If I loved someone as much as she loves Molly, I'd tell her not to waste her time with me too."
Bette: "Oh, come on, you're not a waste of time. Don't say that."
Shane: "Thanks, Bette."
Bette: "Wait, so are you saying that you love Molly?"
Shane: "Yeah."
Bette: "God, I don't think I've heard you say that since Carmen."
Shane: "I was faithful to Molly."
Bette: "Really? Sorry, I didn't mean to laugh."
Shane: "No, you can laugh."
Bette: "No. No, it's just that that's big. It must have been hard."
Tina: "How hard is it to be faithful to someone that you're in love with?"
